The Bears of Burrrduffy is a massive, cultured nation, remarkable for its irreverence towards religion. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.635 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Commerce. Income tax is unheard of. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.
Burrrduffy is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, cremation is compulsory for the deceased, strict term limits have been applied to all elected offices, and the government seeks peaceful forum with terrorists. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Burrrduffy's national animal is the dog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the martini.
