The real benefits of Google Chrome

Many a keystrokes have been pressed about Google and how Google Chrome team seemingly violated Google's own terms and conditions by paying for reviews. If you don't subscribe to Techmeme, read a good summary of the discussion at search engine land. I am not going to pretend I know everything but one of the benefits of Google Chrome is that it allows Google to push ahead with new (hopefully open) protocols like SPDY (read as speedy, like HTTP) and Dart (a structured web programming language, video below). Moreover, it creates motivation for Mozilla (I am using Mozilla Firefox to type this post) to keep moving. What Google does with Chrome helps the whole web move forward.
