                                TI-Reader Converter ReadMe

Welcome to the TI-Reader Converter software. The TI-Reader
Converter is a Windows(R) application that lets you convert text, HTML,
and Open eBook (OeB) publication files to Binary eBook (BEB) format.
After converting the files to BEB format you can view them on your
TI-89, TI-92 Plus, or Voyage(TM) 200 personal learning tool (PLT) using
the TI-Reader handheld software application (App).

This ReadMe file contains the following information to introduce you to this
product from Texas Instruments.

2. Features
3. Issues
4. Getting Help

System Requirements
===================

*  PC Operating System: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 95, 98, ME, 2000,
   NT 4x (Service Pack 6), Windows XP or later

*  Hard Disk Space: At least 4MB available

*  TI Handheld Device/Version of Operating System:
   TI-89 with 2.05 or later
   TI-92 Plus with 2.05 or later
   Voyage(TM) 200 PLT with 2.07 or later

*  TI-GRAPH LINK(TM) Cable: Serial (gray or black) or USB.
   The Windows 95 and NT 4.x operating systems do not support
   the use of USB devices, such as the TI-GRAPH LINK USB cable.

*  TI Connect v1.2.1 or later software available for free from
   http://education.ti.com/downloadticonnect

Features
=========

TI-Reader Converter provides:

Smart File Conversions
   TI-Reader Converter quickly translates your text, HTML, or
   Open eBook (OeB) documents into a format that is compatible
   with the TI-Reader App on your TI handheld device.

Multiple Conversion Formats
   TI-Reader Converter gives you a choice of device
   file formats. You can convert a file into the correct
   format for TI-89, TI-92 Plus, or Voyage 200 PLT.

Drag and Drop to the TI Connect software icon
   You can use TI Connect software to transfer files from
   the computer to the connected handheld device.

Issues
========

*   The Windows 95 and NT 4.x operating systems do not
    support the use of USB devices, such as the TI-GRAPH LINK
    USB cable.

*   If you convert a file into the book format for the TI-92 Plus
    (.9xy) or Voyage 200 PLT (.v2y), you should not try to read it
    on a TI-89. When the TI-89, with a narrower display, attempts
    to display a book that has been formatted for a wider display,
    the lines of text appear to wrap on top of other lines of text,
    making the text very difficult to read.

    If you need to read the file on a TI-89, use the TI-Reader
    Converter to convert the original file into the TI-89 file
    format (.89y).

*   For book files larger than 64K, the TI-Reader Converter creates
    additional segmented files as needed. If you reconvert a long
    document, save it to the same name as before, and then
    transfer the files to the device, the new set of book segments
    replaces (overwrites) the first set of book segments.

    A problem can occur if a fewer number of book segments replace
    the first set of segments, because the extra files cannot be read.

    Be sure to delete the old book segments from the device
    before you transfer the newly converted book segments. Alternatively,
    you can save the file to a different name when converting.
