Wikileaks kicked out of Amazon's cloud: Sad day for the cloud

The story of Wikileaks being kicked out of Amazon's cloud has ramifications beyond just wikileaks. It means that Amazon.com silently agrees that what a customer does with their private cloud is not just the customer's responsibility but is also the responsibility of Amazon.com. The cloud companies Amazon.com, Dropbox, Google, Rackspace, Salesforce, and others depend on their being legally not responsible for what their clients do. Yes, they own the cloud infrastructure but they really need to make the cloud appear as a valid alternative to a customer's own server farm.

Thus, 'tis a sad day for the cloud.
