Catching up to Firefox with encryption

Encryption
The latest developmental builds Google Chrome now sport a new option with sync - encryption. Now, you can have your data encrypted so that you need a passphrase - one that you generate and one that only you [should] have access to - to decrypt. Does this hint at more features coming to Sync? We can only wait and see.

While you can say Google is playing catch-up, Firefox and Chrome are not at an equal playing field because of the different roads they have gone (ars technica). The article on ars says:
Google opted to use real-time communication to "push" synchronization events, causing changes to be reflected almost immediately in all connected browser instances.
The Firefox synchronization service has a documented REST API that operates on a simple polling principle
To set up sync, you must have a Google account. Simply go to the wrench menu > options >> personal stuff and the sync section. More information about this feature is available from Google.
